COMMUNITY SUPPORTED SESSIONS
Times are tough and marginalised folks are those who feel the struggle most of all, especially those of you in rural areas - like much of Maine.
I started Community Supported Sessions (CSS) as a way to increase access to my work at a discounted rate for folks in need.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
$5 of every session goes into the Community Cup.
When the cup fills up, I offer free or discounted 1:1 sessions to BIPOC folks who are financially disadvantaged.
Clients and others in the community who value my work also have the option of paying extra for services - and that extra goes into the cup and keeps adding up.
WHO QUALIFIES FOR SUPPORTED SESSIONS?
Reproductive injustice disproportionately affects the lives of Black, Indigenous and Peoples of colour and it is my intention to offer Community Supported Sessions to these folks.
If you do not identify as BIPOC but are also suffering financial hardship, yes, you may also apply.
ABOUT THE PROCESS
It's an honor system.
I trust that the folks who request a CSS are in need, I'm not going to ask you difficult questions about why and how you're disadvantaged, it's enough that you have requested support.
If you're budget is restricted and you're not sure whether to ask for CSS or not, consider your responses to the following questions:
I have enough money to pay my bills, rent/mortgage and buy food each week.
I'm able to purchase clothes, books and gifts for my loved ones.
Occasionally I eat out or get take-away.
I am able to go on vacation once a year.
I acknowledge that this system is not perfect - it means folks in need, have to wait for care. I am hoping to revise and expand what I'm able to offer to continue access to reproductive education and resources in the future. If you have any thoughts, concerns or considerations I welcome your feedback.
HOW DO I SIGN UP?
